Publicado a 22/12/2023

December 22nd marked the successful completion of the Train of Trainers (ToT) program, a crucial component of the “Capacity Development for the Management of Services in Romania” project. This program was implemented by an international consortium led by NOVA National School of Public Health and coordinated by Professor Alexandre Lourenço, IESE Business School and the University of Milan as academic partners, and the European Health Management Association and European Association of Hospital Managers.

The project by the World Health Organisation and the Romanian Ministry of Health comes in light of Romania’s PRR. The ToT program is at the root of the cascade training structure, which aims to train 5,000 professionals in health management and strengthen the management capacities of Romania’s health services by the end of 2024.

Conducted by the Consortium’s academic partners, the ToT program included six weeks of training for Healthcare Management Professors and professionals in Romania.

The module that kicked off the ToT, “Ethics and Integrity in Healthcare Management”, took place between 11 and 15 September and was run by IESE’s faculty, Professor Antonino Vaccaro.

The second module of the activity, “Public Health and Health Policies”, took place between the 25th and 29th of September and included the participation of NOVA NSPH faculty, Professors Gonçalo Figueiredo Augusto, Christopher Millett, Julian Perelman, and Cristina Godinho as lecturers for the training sessions.

The “Innovation and Digital Transformation” module, the third component of the ToT, was also supported by ENSP NOVA and included the participation of Professors Guilherme Victorino (IMS NOVA), Henrique Martins (ISCTE), Carina Albuquerque (IMS NOVA) and Ana Luísa Neves (Imperial College London).

The fourth and fifth modules, “Design and Delivering Healthcare” and “Innovative Teaching Methodologies”, were supported by IESE Business School and were run by the distinguished Professor Jaume Ribera and Professor Thomas Kleuter.

The sixth and final ToT module, “Leadership and Change Management”, was supported by UNIMI’s faculty and run by Professor Federico Lega.

On behalf of the project, the NOVA National School of Public Health would like to express its gratitude to all the professors who contributed to the success of these training sessions. We extended our appreciation to the WHO CO team in Romania for the exceptional organization of each event and their support, and to the National Institute for Health Services Management (NIHSM) for facilitating the entire process and welcoming us during these insightful six weeks.
