In an event organized by the Lisbon School of Health Technology on Forest Fires: Consequences and Impacts, Susana Viegas (from NOVA National School of Public Health –NOVA NSPH) presented the theme The Impact of Fires on Air Quality.
In this presentation, given to almost a hundred participants, the impact of climate change on the increase in the frequency and intensity of fires and the increase in the associated disease burden in the general population and the population that fights fires (e.g. firefighters) was addressed, due to the degradation of air quality and exposure to pollutants that they cause.
