The European project Partnerships for Science Education, developed by a European consortium led by NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) of the NOVA University of Lisbon, was considered by the European Research Agency (ERA) as one of the most innovative and impactful projects in the European Union for its significant contribution to the European Research Area (ERA).
Lead by Carolina Santos, from NOVA NSPH, PAFSE is a science education project that addresses public health challenges, involving schools, universities, research centers, science clubs, associations and companies, in the construction of scientific clusters that increase young people’s awareness of public health challenges, protective factors and risk behaviors and the role they can play in preparing the community for risks.
PAFSE challenges students and schools to contribute to the promotion of health in the community, implementing educational scenarios within scientific networks. Each learning scenario includes learning objectives, assessment methods, lesson plans, learning objects/teaching resources and a guide for students’ scientific projects. Digital educational resources are progressively made accessible in the Photodentro PAFSE repository.
