In 2022, the number of migrants in the world was estimated at one billion, of which one million were in the European region of the World Health Organization.
And although migration is not a public health problem in itself, it enhances a set of intersecting social determinants of health, which can lead to health inequalities for some groups.
This is the theme of the article that The Lancet is publishing in its June 2024 issue, and whose authors include Sónia Dias, Ana Gama and Maria J. Marques from the NOVA National School of Public Health.
