The NOVA National School of Public Health of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA NSPH) and the United Nations Association in Portugal (United Nations Association – UNA Portugal) established a protocol for the organization of Model WHO, a simulation of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO).
This simulation is integrated into the World Diplomacy by Young Generation program.
Through Model WHO, students will be able to simulate the internal functioning of the WHO, assuming roles that simulate states and typical functions of this United Nations organization, providing an opportunity for young people to get involved with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda .
“It is our conviction that this simulation will enrich the training of our students, offering them a unique and realistic experience of the dynamics of global health in the context of a multilateral organization, while encouraging active and informed engagement with the SDGs”, said Prof. Dr. Sónia Dias, Dean of NOVA NSPH.
The inaugural edition of Model WHO is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
