Publicado a 21/08/2024

The 38th Annual Conference of the European Health Psychology Society, organised by the NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH), will be held next week, from September 2 to 6, at the Estoril Congress Centre. The event has already received over 1,000 registrations and is supported by the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC).

“Organising the 38th European Congress of Health Psychology is an honour for NOVA NSPH, which has Marta Marques and Cristina Godinho, professors at NOVA NSPH, as chairs of the congress. This event is an excellent opportunity for us to share knowledge and cement the importance that the social sciences can have in responding to the major challenges facing society, particularly in Public Health, always with the idea of involving all the players, as well as the communities, leaving no-one behind”, says NOVA NSPH’s director, Sónia Dias.

With the theme ‘Health Psychology for a Sustainable Future’, the world’s largest scientific congress in the field of Health Psychology and adjacent areas, such as behavioural sciences, implementation science, mental health, digital health and health promotion, will address very relevant and current health issues, such as health inequities and inclusion, health policies and digital solutions, demographic challenges and climate change, health promotion and well-being throughout the life cycle.

“It’s an honour to be able to organise this Congress this year in Portugal, one of the most relevant in the area of psychological and behavioural sciences in connection with Public Health, and which represents an effort not only by us, but also by other colleagues in health psychology in Portugal”, says Cristina Godinho. “We are certain that it will be a milestone for the national scientific community, reinforcing the international recognition of our institutions in this area and stimulating more collaborations in international R&D projects and attracting students and researchers”, adds Marta Marques.

The conference’s general programme can be consulted here, and the conference will feature a panel of internationally renowned keynote speakers, including Jeremy Grimshaw (University of Ottawa, Canada), Paschal Sheeran (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, US), Amanda Daley (Loughborough University, UK) and Sónia Dias (NOVA NSPH).
