Susana Viegas, a professor at the NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH), is part of the prestigious ‘World’s Top 2% Scientist List’, a ranking published annually by Stanford University, which brings together the world’s most cited scientists in their respective fields of work.
The NOVA NSPH professor’s presence on the list is due to her work in the areas of environmental and occupational health, with a focus on exposure and risk assessment to chemical risk factors, and her vast international collaboration where more than 50 per cent of her publications are contributed to by colleagues from other nationalities.
This ranking, based on the Scopus database, lists the 2% most cited scientists in the world, covering 22 scientific areas and 174 sub-areas, standing out for the influence and impact of academic research.
This is not the first year that Susana Viegas has been included in the ranking of the most cited scientists, so this reappointment reflects the continuity and consolidation of the work she has been able to develop.
This international recognition honours the entire NOVA NSPH community and reflects the impact and quality of the research carried out here, with many of these topics also present in the various courses and training courses offered by NOVA NSPH.
