A group of students from the Hospital Administration Specialisation Course at the NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH), accompanied by lecturers and some Portuguese managers, hospital administrators and other health professionals, began a visit to Norway today. Over the course of the working days, the group of 47 participants will have the opportunity to get to know that country’s health system and some concrete projects, in an initiative that stimulates new contacts and allows the sharing of ideas between all those involved, with the aim of bringing better health to everyone.
This visit was organised by NOVA NSPH and the Portuguese Association for Hospital Development (APDH), in partnership with the Portuguese Association of Hospital Administrators (APAH), the NOVA NSPH Student Association and the NOVA NSPH Alumni Association.
This Study Visit to the Norwegian Health System, as part of the Hospital Administration Specialisation Course, will enable the group to: learn about the governance model and the integration of health care and management; learn about the innovation model and the adoption of new technologies, sustainability practices and quality assurance in health services; learn about human resources planning and management policies, leadership development and management skills in health organisations; and build bridges for the development of institutional and professional partnerships, fostering future exchanges and collaborations.
During the four days of work, the group will have the opportunity to visit various Norwegian organisations and contact many of the country’s administrators and health professionals. For example, the programme includes meetings and visits with the Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Vestre Viken Health Trust, the Institute of Health and Society (University of Oslo) and Norway Health Tech.
“At NOVA NSPH we have increasingly focused on teaching that combines scientific and technical excellence with access to practical cases and a network of national and international contacts that encourages the exchange of experiences and knowledge. It’s essential that hospital administration students and other health professionals learn about models of integrating care and projects in other countries throughout their careers, as these experiences allow them to broaden their horizons, acquire new perspectives and bring the best global practices into our health system”, emphasises the deputy director of NOVA NSPH, Rui Santana, who is part of the delegation.
