The NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) has signed a collaboration protocol with Real Life Technologies, a multinational company that integrates Information and Communication Technologies and is a certified Google Cloud and Cisco Gold Integrator partner. This collaboration will make it possible to cement NOVA NSPH’s scientific knowledge in health and expand the school’s offer in areas such as innovation, digital health, artificial intelligence and data science, among others, with a positive impact on the training and experiences offered to teachers, researchers and students.
With the collaboration that has now begun, it will be possible to create more innovative responses in public health, which will meet the needs and challenges facing health systems and society. The protocol provides for the two institutions to collaborate to build teaching and research that results in more and better services for the community. From internships to applied research projects, through practical teaching and mentoring opportunities, there are several actions planned by NOVA NSPH and Real Life Technologies.
‘Digital transformation in health is not just the future, it is the present, and what we are able to do now will have a very strong impact on the health we will be able to provide to people in the coming decades. At NOVA NSPH we are training the new generations of leaders and health professionals, challenging them to integrate innovative digital solutions into the daily practice of institutions and integrating data science for more informed decisions that boost the sustainability and quality of the value generated in public health,’ emphasises the director of NOVA NSPH, Sónia Dias.
‘If we want to do things differently and if we want to shape the future of health, responding to the challenges of an ageing population, climate change and sustainability, among many others, we have to put innovation at the service of efficiency and decision-making and we will be reinventing the way we provide healthcare and how we put people at the centre of all our actions,’ adds the director of NOVA NSPH.
Sofia Marta, Google Cloud’s Country Manager in Portugal, emphasises the importance of the partnership, saying that ‘the collaboration between NOVA NSPH, Real Life Technologies and Google Cloud demonstrates the power of technology to drive innovation and transformation in healthcare. We are excited to support this initiative and contribute to the development of solutions that benefit Portuguese society’.
Miguel Almeida, Cisco’s Country Manager in Portugal points out that ‘this collaboration with NOVA NSPH and Real Life Technologies, in the field of health, aims to democratise and boost the use of technology so that we can jointly bring more innovation to health, a critical area for our society’.
‘At Real Life Technologies, we believe that technology should be an enabler of positive social impact, especially in healthcare. This protocol with NOVA NSPH is a decisive step towards ensuring that healthcare professionals have access to the most innovative and effective tools, such as artificial intelligence, to promote more personalised and accessible healthcare. Our responsibility goes beyond technology – we are investing in the future of healthcare in Portugal, empowering today’s students to face tomorrow’s challenges with innovative digital solutions. This is the kind of transformation that can really benefit society as a whole,’ says Alexandre Brancal, CEO of Real Life Technologies.
The protocol will also make it possible to offer more lifelong learning courses and new teaching products that respond to market needs. It is also intended to promote the development of funding opportunities for new solutions in the area of digital health and enable access to centres, laboratories, hubs and other structures for experimentation by NOVA NSPH and Real Life Technologies, as part of the development of joint projects.
