NOVA NSPH moves forward with Smart Healthy Region Platform

Publicado a 26/11/2024

The NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) has signed a collaboration protocol that will make it possible to create the Smart Healthy Region Integrated Territorial Intelligence Analytical Platform.

Funded within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), in the Digital Health Transition component, this project will enable integrated, real-time analysis of health data, supporting the planning, monitoring and implementation of health policies, according to the needs of the Western region.

The collaboration protocol was signed on 14 November at the Monastery of Alcobaça, at a ceremony presided over by the Secretary of State for Health Management, Cristina Vaz Tomé, and the Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Development, Hélder Reis. NOVA NSPH was represented at the ceremony by the deputy director, Rui Santana.

The protocol was also signed by the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), the NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS), the Oeste Intermunicipal Community (OesteCIM) and the Oeste Local Health Unit (ULS Oeste).

The objectives of the Smart Healthy Region project include exploring the potential generated by the West’s territorial intelligence platform – the Oeste Smart Region – as a space of opportunity for a new generation of data-driven public health policies, including the development of algorithms to support the design of policies and the definition of intervention strategies in priority public health areas, the creation of follow-up and monitoring mechanisms, as well as the acquisition of support technologies for the project’s activities.
