The Doctoral Program in Public Health aims to promote scientific activities in the area of Public Health, in order to give its students:

  • Training in creating, planning, and executing scientific research in Public Health
  • Expertise in the interpretation, discussion, and communication of results, preparation of scientific articles and other technical materials
  • In depth knowledge in public health and a specific specialization area
  • Skills and instruments for life-long learning
  • Preparation of new researchers and management of programs in public health and in a specific area of specialization

This PhD offers 5 areas of specialization:

  • Epidemiology
  • Health Promotion
  • Health Policies and Management
  • Health Economics
  • Environmental and occupational health

conditions for admission

  • Holders of a Master's Degree or legal equivalent; or
  • Holders of a Bachelor's Degree who also have an especially relevant academic/scientific curriculum that attests to the applicant’s ability to carry out this cycle of studies (as determined to the satisfaction of the Scientific Council of ENSP-UNL); or
  • Holders of an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum vitae that is deemed by the Scientific Council of the ENSP-UNL to attest to the applicant’s ability to carry out this cycle of studies; and
  • Applicants who are fluent in English (spoken and written).

The minimum number of students for the Program to move forward is 10.

 

SELECTION

The analysis, evaluation, selection, and ranking of applications will be carried out by a jury appointed by the Scientific Board of Doctoral Program in Public Health appointed by the Scientific Council of ENSP-UNL, composed of the following members:

Academic and Scientific Merit - 50%
Research Topic - 25%
Professional Experience/Research - 10%
Personal Interview - 15%

 

COST

Application fee: 51€

Tuition fee: 3,300€ for the first year of the program

Enrollment is annual and mandatory until the completion of the program and calls for payment of the tuition fee.

To the tuition fee amount is added the annual enrollment fee, school insurance, and other fees as stipulated in the Fees Table approved by the UNL and published in the Diário da República in the current academic year. For all terms and payment methods - please see information on ENSP-NOVA website.
