Health emergencies, including new pandemics and infectious disease outbreaks, climate change, antimicrobial resistance, population ageing, and the growing burden of chronic diseases, among others, clearly highlight the urgent need for health ecosystems to reinvent themselves. This reinvention requires, on one hand, an agile, collaborative, adaptable, and technologically advanced approach to ensure the health and well-being of populations; and on the other, a strong emphasis on promoting innovation in health. This includes innovation with social impact, organisational management, public engagement, business models, technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and more, all aimed at strengthening response capacity and fostering an environment conducive to innovation in transforming health systems.
It is within this challenging landscape that the “Leading the Way to a Healthy Future” platform emerges. As a pioneering cooperation platform in Portugal, it aims to lead transformation in the health sector. Promoted by the NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH), in collaboration with more than 80 partner organisations from the public, social, and private sectors, this platform seeks to promote a Public Health 5.0 model. It is firmly committed to building a sustainable future, where innovation, adaptability, longevity, and inclusion are key pillars in advancing health and health systems.
