The students of the 63rd Specialization Course in Public Health (CESP) at NOVA Nacional School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) made a study visit to the Thermal Complex of Caldas da Rainha on March 18th, accompanied by the deputy coordinator of the course, Professor Paulo Sousa.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the facilities, equipment, and treatments that make up Clinical Thermalism – such as Nasal Shower, Pharyngeal Spray, Proetz Drainage, Vichy Shower, among others – recommended for respiratory, rheumatic, and musculoskeletal conditions.

The Thermal Hospital of Caldas da Rainha, the oldest in the world, founded in 1485 by Queen D. Leonor, is referenced in strategic documents with potential for research, training, and innovation. This visit allowed students to understand the importance of this institution in the context of health in general and thermalism in particular.

The visit also provided an opportunity to identify and discuss existing opportunities for future work and internships during specialization or the development of activities as public health specialists.
