Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and researcher at the Public Health Research Center of the National School of Public Health - NOVA. His areas of interest are identification of factors associated with health outcomes; epidemiological surveillance and epidemic intelligence; impact, effectiveness and safety of interventions; prevention and control of infectious diseases, global health and pandemics (COVID-19), quality in health services, access and integration of data, economic evaluation in health, culture and Public Health, social networks and Public Health, climate change and Public Health.
Specialist in Public Health in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley - Public Health Unit, ACES Oeste Sul. Member of the Executive Committee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for the Project - Good Choices, Better Health, collaborator of the DGS in the area of Epidemic Intelligence, review editor of Frontiers in Public Health, member of the ASPHER COVID-19 task-force and of the Commission for the Evaluation of the Agency for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) for medical courses.
He has a PhD in Public Health and a specialization course in the same area at the National School of Public Health - NOVA, and a master's degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. He is an alumnus of the ECDC's European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) in partnership with the DGS.
