A training program that empowers participants to navigate the intersection of genomics and digital health, exploring advances in personalized medicine, ethical and social implications, and future challenges, while developing skills to lead transformations in healthcare systems in the new digital era.
Participants will gain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the convergence of genomics and digital health, enabling them to understand how these advancements are transforming medical practice and public health.
They will develop knowledge on the state of the art in precision medicine, from prevention and diagnosis to therapy personalization, allowing them to apply innovative approaches in their areas of intervention.
Participants will be able to identify and address the ethical, legal, and social challenges associated with these technological revolutions, contributing to more responsible and informed decisions. They will have the opportunity to explore the intersections between public health, precision medicine, and digital health, positioning themselves strategically to influence and lead changes in healthcare systems.
The cycle: Scientific fundamentals and historical milestones of genetics and genomics;
The Human Genome Project – main features and global impact;
Genomic science and technology: research, risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases (genetic testing, pharmacogenomics, and gene therapy);
Implications of the digital revolution in healthcare: mHealth, eHealth, wearables, artificial intelligence, and other emerging issues;
Ethical, legal, and social implications of personalized medicine – challenges related to informed consent, privacy, ownership of biological material, and the principle of non-discrimination.
The awarding of 4 ECTS requires a positive result in the final assessment.
