Graduated in Business Management from ISG (1985), he completed Postgraduate Studies in Project Management and HealthCare Program at the business schools of Lausanne (Switzerland) and Insead (France).
Since 2021, he has been conducting external assessments of the quality of Internal Audit activities (Quality Assessment Services) in several financial institutions and the energy sector, as part of international teams from IIA Global (Florida, USA), IIA Portugal (Lisbon), IIA Spain (Madrid), and consulting firms. He is a trainer at IIA Portugal (IPAI – Portuguese Institute of Internal Auditing), a consultant in various public and private sector organizations, and a managing partner of several restaurant establishments.
He was Corporate Director at the CUF Health Group, with significant experience in leading the Internal Audit and Risk Management functions (2012 to 2020), and served as Executive Director for several units of the group between 2005 and 2011 (Amadora Sintra Hospital, HASPAC – clinical pathology laboratory, Termas Caldas da Felgueira). He was also Corporate Financial Director from 2003 to 2005.
Previously, he was responsible for financial areas, operational control, logistics & supply chain at Jerónimo Martins SGPS (1997 to 2003), Director and Executive at Hewlett-Packard Portugal (1990 to 1997), having started his professional career at Arthur Andersen & Co (1986 to 1990).
