The European Environment Agency (EEA) has announced the renewal of the mandate of nine members of its Scientific Committee, eligible for a second four-year term, one of whom is Susana Viegas, a professor at NOVA NSPH. The decision was taken during the 103rd meeting of the EEA Board of Directors. This renewal reflects the recognition of the work and dedication of these members in supporting the fulfilment of the EEA’s mission, promoting scientific excellence in its activities.

The EEA Executive Board thanked the members for their willingness to rejoin the Scientific Committee, emphasizing the importance of continuity in building knowledge and setting priorities for the coming years. With this new mandate, NOVA NSPH reaffirms with EEA its commitment to science as an essential pillar for tackling Europe’s environmental challenges and contributing to evidence-based solutions.

The Scientific Committee plays a crucial role in the work of the EEA, collaborating on the EEA’s annual and multi-annual work programmes, advising the Executive Director on scientific recruitment for the Agency and providing advice and opinions on any scientific issue related to the EEA’s activities.
