Inês Fronteira is an Associate Professor at ENSP NOVA. Her research focuses on health policy and health systems, with a special focus on the health workforce and how this pillar of the health system can be strengthened to increase access, efficiency and quality of care. Often using epidemiology, she also studies ways to improve the design and implementation of health care policies and programs. Her recent work includes empirical evaluations of strategic planning in the areas of health workforce, health workforce education and health policy evaluation.
Inês Fronteira is president of the Portuguese Epidemiology Association. Since 2021, she has been an advisor to the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences (CNECV). Since 2023, she has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the European Health Management Association.
PhD in International Health from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine – NOVA University Lisbon (2011) and with a qualification in Public Health – Epidemiology from the National School of Public Health – NOVA University Lisbon (2022). Master’s Degree in Public Health from the National School of Public Health – NOVA University Lisbon (2003). Graduated with distinction in Nursing (2000).
