Ana Gama is an Assistant Researcher at the NOVA National School of Public Health, where she is a member of the Ethics Committee and the Scientific Council. She is a member of the Center for Public Health Research (CISP) and Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC). Her areas of interest include health promotion, health literacy, access to and use of health services for prevention, diagnosis and care, particularly in more vulnerable populations, with a focus on participatory research and implementation science. Since 2007 she has been part of several national and international projects using multi-method and participatory approaches to understand health and socio-behavioral determinants, as well as to design, implement and evaluate interventions that improve health and reduce inequalities.
Dr Ana Gama is a member of the scientific networks ICPHR – International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research and ANSER – Academic Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Policy. She has been a member of scientific committees for conferences, acting as an evaluator of submitted papers, and is currently guest co-editor of the Global Excellence in Implementation Science: Europe collection of the scientific journal Frontiers in Health Services.
She has a PhD in International Health from the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical – NOVA, a Master’s Degree in Community Psychology from the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada and a degree in Social and Organizational Psychology from the Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa.
