    Carla Martins is a Research Assistant at the NOVA National School of Public Health. Her research interests focus on risk assessment and health impact assessment of environmental pollutants, human biomonitoring studies (environmental and occupational exposure), climate change, One Health, indoor air quality, and food systems challenges (food safety, food security, sustainability). Her recent work includes burden of disease, risk assessment and risk-benefit assessment studies.

    She has participated as a team member in several research projects and coordinated two research projects in the area of food safety and environmental burden of disease. She is an integrated member of the Center for Integral Health Research and is also a member of the Society for Mycotoxin Research.

    She has a PhD in Public Health from the NOVA National School of Public Health, a postgraduate degree in Microbiology from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a degree from the School of Health Technology of the Polytechnic of Lisbon.
