    Julian Perelman is a Professor at NOVA NSPH. His research focuses on the economic evaluation of health programmes and policies, with an emphasis on inequalities in health and health care and on payment models and incentives for health service providers.

    His most recent work includes empirical impact evaluations of provider payment systems, such as performance-based financing, and empirical evaluations of socioeconomic inequalities and the impact of policies on eating and smoking habits.

     

    Currently Vice-President of the Portuguese Commission for Health Technology Assessment (CATS), based at Infarmed, IP. He coordinated the Framework Mission for the Sustainability of the Health Budget Programme (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance) between 2018 and 2020.

    He has a PhD in Economics (Belgium) and graduated in Economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain.
