    Baltazar Nunes is a Visiting Assistant Professor at NOVA NSPH in the field of Statistics and Epidemiology. His research focuses on infectious diseases and environmental epidemiology, with an emphasis on effectiveness and impact studies, the effects of extreme climatic events, the development of surveillance systems, and future epidemiological scenarios.

    He is the Head of the Epidemiological Research Unit at the Department of Epidemiology of the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) in Lisbon and Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Epidemiology. He also serves as INSA’s focal point for the ESCAPE project, funded by Horizon Europe.

     

    He holds a PhD and a Master’s in Probability and Statistics from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon.
