    Carlos Santos Moreira, born in Lisbon in 1960, graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon in 1978, specialising in Internal Medicine in 2003. In 2007, he obtained a master’s degree in Medical Management and Education, with recognised competencies in management and coding from the Portuguese Medical Association. He completed a PhD in Medicine in 2009 and a postgraduate diploma in Healthcare Quality in 2013, followed by the Advanced Programme in Health Institutions Management in 2014. In 2021, he completed the National Defence Course, becoming a National Defence Auditor.

    Since his residency, he has developed a particular interest in hypertension and currently coordinates the hypertension unit of the internal medicine department at ULSSM. He is a Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. In his roles, he serves as Advisor to the Clinical Director, Director of the Internal Medicine Department, and Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at ULS Santa Maria.

    Additionally, he is Director of the University Clinic of Medicine I and lecturer for the courses in Internal Medicine and Quality and Patient Safety at FMUL. Since 2013, he has chaired the Commission for Good Clinical Practices of the Directorate-General of Health, and since 2021, he has been a member of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research.
