Optional Units

DESCRIPTION

General Principles

To ensure compliance with the ECTS requirements for Optional Course Units in the curricula of different programs, NOVA NSPH annually implements a Program of Optional Course Units (PUCO).

Schedule

The PUCO schedule takes place exclusively online on Mondays from 09:30 to 13:10, Wednesdays from 14:30 to 22:10, and Saturdays from 09:30 to 13:10

Access

The course units included in PUCO are available to all students enrolled in NOVA NSPH programs, within the limits established by the respective Course Regulations and except for duly indicated exceptions.

NOVA NSPH students may also fulfill the ECTS requirements for Optional Course Units in their curricula by obtaining approval in any other course unit at NOVA NSPH, including short courses that award ECTS.

This option is subject to the availability of places and the approval of both the Course Unit and Program Coordinators (registration must be completed with the Academic Services before the start of the respective course unit).

REGISTRATION

Registration for Optional Course Units is done individually through the netPA system.

Registrations will be open from 10:00 on 2nd October until 23:59 on 6th October 2025 (access netPA here).

Optional Course Units will be held with a minimum of 10 registrations and a maximum number of places defined on a case-by-case basis by the respective Coordinator.

According to the regulations approved by the Scientific and Pedagogical Councils of NOVA NSPH, students of NOVA NSPH:

  • Should not register for Optional Course Units with overlapping schedules;

  • Should register for the approximate number of ECTS planned in their respective study plan (additional registrations will be subject to availability and fees not covered by tuition).
