A training program designed to develop skills to analyze and address health inequalities, using measurement tools and effective strategies to promote equity in health outcomes and healthcare delivery, with a focus on both local and global contexts.
By the end of the training, participants will have gained a comprehensive understanding of the concepts of equity and inequality in health, applying them to the analysis and formulation of health policies. They will also develop practical skills to use measurement tools, such as concentration indices and inequality indices, to assess disparities in health outcomes.
Horizontal and vertical equity, Rawls’ maximin principle and other equity concepts, as well as national and international legislation and strategies;
Concentration curves and indices, relative and absolute inequality indices, as well as methods for measuring income and other attributes;
Measuring inequality in mortality and disease;
Social determinants of health and social policy;
Access;
Equity in healthcare delivery;
Equity in health system financing.
The awarding of 4 ECTS requires a positive result in the final assessment.
