Adalberto Campos Fernandes is a Invited Associate Professor at NOVA NSPH. His research and areas of interest focus on the sustainability of health systems, the public-private mix in health, health policies, health services and the management of health organisations. He also examines ways to improve the design and implementation of health policies and programmes. His recent work includes empirical evaluations of decentralised health policies on health outcomes. As a researcher, he is a member of the Centre for Public Health Research (CISP) and the Centre for Integral Health Research (CHRC).
He was Minister of Health in the 21st Constitutional Government (2015-2018) and President of the Portuguese Red Cross Hospital. He is a member of the Regional Director’s Advisory Council on Innovation for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD Advisory Council) of the European Region of the World Health Organisation. He is a member of the Portuguese National Academy of Medicine, President of the General Assembly of the Evidence-Based Health Institute and Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon.
Adalberto Campos Fernandes holds a doctorate in Health Administration from the ISCSP of the University of Lisbon, a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), Services Administration from NOVA NSPH and a degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon.
