    Ana Rita Pedro is a Researcher at the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA NSPH) and an integrated member of the CHRC. Her research focuses on health literacy, patient engagement, knowledge translation, and patient perceptions. She also explores ways to enhance citizen participation in healthcare, health policies, and health programmes. Her recent work includes assessing health literacy levels, analysing public policies impacting health literacy, and contributing to the effective inclusion of the patient perspective in healthcare management.

    Ana Rita Pedro is recognised as a specialist in Health Literacy and Communication, Health Policies, and Public Health, having been involved in various working groups, including the Taskforce for the design of the National Programme for Health Literacy, the Strategic Support Unit (NAE) of the Ministry of Health, and the discussion forum on Health Technology Assessment Reports (SiNATS), promoted by INFARMED. She is currently the Coordinator of the Academic Network for Health Literacy.

     

    She holds a PhD in Public Health from NOVA NSPH, as well as a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Policy from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon. From the beginning of her academic journey, she has developed a particular aptitude for Health Promotion Policies, Health Literacy, and Health Communication.
