Cristina Godinho is an Assistant Professor at the NOVA NSPH and a member of the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC). She lectures and coordinates courses at the post-graduate and PhD levels and conducts research in health promotion, mainly focusing on the determinants of health behavior change (e.g., healthy eating, physical activity, vaccination) and the development and evaluation of tailored interventions and health communication. She has extensive experience in national and international research projects and has authored more than forty-five papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
Cristina Godinho is also the Deputy Director of the Portuguese National Program for Physical Activity Promotion under the Director-General of Health and an Associate Editor of “Psicologia, Reflexão e Crítica” (Springer Nature). During the COVID-19 crisis, she was nominated as a member of the Behavioral Sciences Task Force by the Portuguese Government. She has also been invited to several expert panels and technical consultations for the World Health Organization on the topics of behavior change, physical activity, nutrition, and obesity.
She previously held positions as a visiting scholar at Kent State University (Ohio, USA), Research Associate at the University College London (UCL) and the UCL Centre for Behavior Change, a researcher at Instituto de Ciências Sociais (ICS – University of Lisbon), and an Invited Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL and at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Cristina Godinho holds a European PhD in Psychology from Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL) and Freie Universität Berlin, and a post-graduation in Data Analysis for Social Sciences from ISCTE-IUL.
