Rui Santana

    Rui Santana is a Full Professor at the NOVA National School of Public Health, Nova University Lisbon (NOVA NSPH). He is currently the Deputy Director of NOVA NSPH, President of the Pedagogical Council, and Director of the Department of Policies and Management of Health Systems. His research interests include the study of organizational models and designs, vertical integration of care, health financing, and costing methods in healthcare organizations.

     

    He is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Health Management Association, a reviewer for the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation, and an Associate Editor of the Portuguese Journal of Public Health. He has served as a consultant for the World Bank and participated in various Technical Working Groups of the Ministry of Health. With over 20 years of professional experience, he has also worked as a Hospital Administrator and as a consultant at Arthur Andersen.

    He holds a PhD in Public Health, specializing in Health Policy and Administration, a postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration and in Health Unit Management, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
