The founding members, partners and affiliates of the Lisbon Academic Clinical Center (CCAL) met with a view to taking new steps in the process of developing and growing the consortium. The main meeting took place at NOVA Medical School and brought together representatives from the eight institutions in the group, which aims to promote synergies in the fields of research, teaching and care provision.
The meeting reported on the activities carried out under the 2023-2025 programme contract, discussed the regulations guiding the organisation and operation of the board and the funding fund and approved CCAL’s strategic plan.
CCAL is made up of six Local Health Units – São José, Estuário do Tejo, Lezíria, Lisboa Ocidental, Litoral Alentejano and Médio Tejo, the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Lisbon and two Academic Institutions – the NOVA National School of Public Health and NOVA Medical School.
‘NOVA NSPH’s participation in CCAL reinforces our mission to promote public health through clinical research and teaching, contributing to integrated and innovative solutions that respond to the challenges of health systems and benefit populations,’ emphasises Sónia Dias, dean of NOVA NSPH.
The consortium’s board is currently chaired by the ULS São José, in the person of Rosa Valente de Matos, chairwoman of the Board of Directors. The Academic Clinical Centre also has a Scientific and Strategic Council and a Cooperation Council, chaired by other member institutions.
CCAL’s mission, through the creation of a culture of cooperation, sharing and mutual trust, is to stimulate the organised and systematic use of synergies between its members, developing and consolidating a structure that integrates the provision of healthcare and the development of teaching and research activities.
