NOVA NSPH Participates in NOVA Science & Innovation Day 2025

NOVA University of Lisbon will organise the NOVA Science & Innovation Day on 12 December 2025, an event dedicated to research excellence and innovation, which will take place at the NOVA Rectorate.

This edition promises to highlight the role of science and research in societal transformation through the presentation of innovative projects, debates on Open Science and interdisciplinarity, and an Innovation Fair reflecting the dynamism and strength of NOVA’s scientific and technological ecosystem.

NOVA NSPH will have a prominent presence in this edition, with three main contributions that showcase the School’s relevance in public health research and innovation:

  • Ana Gama, a researcher at NOVA NSPH, will present the TRACE Project, which aims to bridge the gap between cancer research and clinical practice.
  • Carolina Santos, a professor at NOVA NSPH, will introduce the Public Health Technology Interface Centre (CITSP), reinforcing the School’s role in knowledge transfer and value creation for society.
  • Joana Alves, a researcher at NOVA NSPH, will feature at the Innovation Fair with the Knowledge Center Public Health Impact.
About the programme:

The morning session will include presentations of research projects led by NOVA researchers, followed by a session dedicated to Open Science and a segment focused on interdisciplinary research.

In the afternoon, attention will turn to the roundtable discussion “FP10 and the Implications for the National Landscape of the New Framework Programme”, bringing together leading experts from the scientific and political arenas. The programme will continue with the award ceremony for the winners of the “Impact Narratives in Research” challenge, followed by a session dedicated to Innovation and Value Creation, showcasing projects and spin-offs from the NOVA ecosystem.

The event will conclude with the presentation of awards for the best flash talks by PhD students, who throughout the day will have the opportunity to present their projects in a pitch format, highlighting the next generation of scientists and innovators.

Meanwhile, the Innovation Fair, held in the Rectorate atrium throughout the event, will bring together proprietary technologies, specialised services, and spin-offs, reflecting the diversity and impact of the University on the national scientific and economic landscape.
