Clinical Coding Course

The Clinical Coding Course (CCC) aims to train physicians in the basic and fundamental rules of clinical coding according to the ICD-10-CM/PCS standards.

This course is a joint initiative of the Administração Central do Sistema de Saúde (ACSS) and NOVA NSPH, coordinated by both institutions, and qualifies participants to perform clinical hospital coding activities.

OBJECTIVES

Understand the purpose and structure of the ICD-10-CM/PCS classification system;
Frame the importance of medical records in the clinical coding process;
Apply the basic and fundamental rules of clinical coding according to ICD-10-CM/PCS;
Recognize the potential of the hospital morbidity database.

OUR STUDENTS PROFILE

The Clinical Coding Course is exclusively intended for graduates in Medicine, with user-level computer skills.

Each student must provide their own access to personal computing devices (laptop or tablet) during course sessions for use throughout them;
The CCC evaluation includes a final assessment (in-person);
A certificate will be issued by ACSS and ENSP NOVA to participants who pass the course;
Enrolling in more than one edition of the course will result in the cancellation of all registrations;
If necessary, course dates may be reviewed due to unforeseen circumstances;
At the end of the course, the level of participant satisfaction will be assessed using the NOVA NSPH quality assessment system.

Selection

Each edition runs with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 participants;
In the first phase, only institutional registrations are accepted, following the distribution made by the ACSS and communicated by their official letter;
The distribution of institutional spots is carried out in the order the registration link requests are received;
If the institutional registrations do not fill all the spots, an individual registration phase may be opened.
