An interdisciplinary approach to measuring the clinical, economic, and social impact of health interventions.

In any context of effective management of public and private resources, efficient allocation is essential. Consequently, economic evaluation and health outcomes assessment, particularly concerning health technologies, are indispensable for informed decision-making.

The Postgraduate Course in Health Economics and Outcomes Research is designed for professionals who produce and use evidence to support decision-making in the health sector. It offers essential knowledge and tools to generate evidence and interpret studies evaluating health technologies.

Since its inception, the program has integrated the core content of two former short courses at NOVA NSPH, Health Economic Evaluation and Outcomes Research, combining and enhancing them to deliver a comprehensive postgraduate-level education.

 

OBJECTIVES | BENEFITS

 

The course aims to provide participants with the skills to:

  • Identify, detail, and apply the main concepts of health economics and economic evaluation, fundamental for clinical and policy decision-making;
  • Evaluate health technologies and policies related to medicines, using economic evaluation tools and outcome measurement, with a focus on the Portuguese context;
  • Interpret and debate scientific studies, applying techniques of economic evaluation and health outcomes measurement in research and regulation.

The target audience for this Postgraduate Program includes professionals with backgrounds in clinical, management, or economics fields who are working:
