Specialization Course in Public Health

Specialization Course in Public Health

Presentation

The Specialization Course in Public Health at NOVA NSPH aims to address the training needs of the internship of the same name, as outlined in the Public Health Medical Residency Training Program.

The Public Health Medical Residency is a specialized medical training process, enabling residents who successfully complete it to qualify as specialists in Public Health.

The Specialization Course in Public Health is one of the mandatory stages of this Training Program, providing full-time theoretical and practical training in public health. It aims to deepen knowledge and develop essential skills for the future practice of a public health specialist.

In accordance with current legislation, the training must be provided by a Higher Education Institution recognized by the Ordem dos Médicos for offering professional training for public health physicians.

The Specialization Course in Public Health has been designed to partially align with the curricular component of the Master’s in Public Health, with the necessary adaptations to meet the objectives of the Medical Residency and the guidelines for the internship established by the Colégio de Saúde Pública da Ordem dos Médicos.

Upon successful completion, each student will have earned 65 ECTS by the end of the Specialization Course in Public Health.

After completing the course successfully, the resident may apply for a complementary training project designed to provide the additional training necessary to obtain the academic degree of Master in Public Health.
