HERA – Helping Empower Women through Reskilling and Advancement

COORDINATION
NOVA National School of Public Health

The HERA – Helping Empower Women through Reskilling and Advancement project aims to empower women over 45 through professional retraining, promoting equal opportunities in the labour market. In a context of rapid digital and sustainable transformations, HERA aims to respond to the challenges of social and gender inequalities, acting on the social determinants of health that limit access to employment, education and health opportunities.
Coordinated by the National School of Public Health at NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA NSPH), HERA brings together a consortium of 10 partners from 8 countries, ensuring a multidisciplinary and international approach to tackling the challenges of female employability and social inclusion. It has the support of the European Commission and funding of €999,999.99.
The project will develop and test innovative re-skilling methodologies focused on the specific needs of different sectors. Tools and strategies will be created to support lifelong learning and strengthen support networks, promoting equity in access to professional opportunities.
In addition to the direct impact on women’s empowerment, HERA will contribute to the development of more inclusive public policies based on evidence and good practice, ensuring that the project’s results have a lasting effect on society.
Main objectives of the HERA project:
- To identify the main barriers and opportunities for the professional re-qualification of women.
- Develop innovative and effective approaches to support employability and career advancement.
- Create networks and resources that encourage lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
- Promote collaboration between organisations, policy-makers and companies for greater inclusion in the labour market.
