Ema Sacadura Leite

Occupational Health Invited Associate Professor
Presentation

Ema Sacadura Leite is an Invited Associate Professor at ENSP NOVA, in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. Her areas of scientific interest are particularly related to Occupational Health in Hospitals and the health and safety of health professionals. She is also a researcher at the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC).

She is a Senior Assistant Professor of Occupational Medicine and Director of the Occupational Health Service at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte (CHULN). She also teaches at the Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon. She is a Doctor and Specialist in Occupational Medicine and Pneumology by the Portuguese Medical Association.

She has a PhD in Public Health, in the specialty of Environmental and Occupational Health from ENSP NOVA.

Research

The areas of research focus essentially on risk assessment in Occupational Health and Safety, with a focus on healthcare organizations. It essentially includes the assessment of chemical, psychosocial, physical, microbiological and “activity-related” risks.

Member of the Public Health Research Center (CISP).

She has been a member of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of several Scientific Meetings and is the author or co-author of more than a hundred different interventions at congresses and other technical-scientific meetings (by invitation or in free communications).

- Representative of the Order of Physicians in the Monospecialized Section of Occupational Medicine of the European Union - UEMS, Member of the Board of the College of the Specialty of Occupational Medicine and of the training board (2000-2002).

- Technical Committee for the Revision of the List of Occupational Diseases, as representative of ENSP NOVA since April 2004 (since 2019 as alternate).

- Member of the Directorate-General for Health's technical-scientific working group for occupational risk assessment and health surveillance of workers exposed to ionizing radiation, as an Expert representing ENSP NOVA (2014-2016).

Member of the Directorate-General for Health's technical-scientific working group for occupational risk assessment and health surveillance of workers exposed to carcinogens, mutagens or agents toxic to reproduction, as an expert representing the SPMT (2016-2018).
